HRSA Announces Regional HIT-HER Workshops

 

HRSA’s Office of Health Information Technology (OHIT) would like to announce the following HIT/EHR workshops coming to a region near YOU!



Sept 28-29- EHR focused workshop hosted by OHIT; Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA); Alaska State Medical Association (ASMA); Alaska Primary Care Association (APCA); Alaska DHSS; Alaska EHR Alliance; and Alaska e-Health Network (AeHN) at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska.



Participants planning to attend should meet the following criteria:



  • HRSA-funded grantees from Region X
  • Healthcare providers and employees in hospitals and clinics who are in the implementation phase or planning to implement an EHR system in the next 6-12 months
  • Those facilities that are a part of a new or existing EHR network, or planning to join a network

Sept 29 – Sept 30 – Telehealth focused workshop hosted by OHIT and the Partners Healthcare Inc/ MGH IHP at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.



Participants planning to attend should meet the following criteria:



  • HRSA-funded grantee from region I, II or III
  • Plan to implement or expand a telehealth program in the near future
  • Want to improve the efficiency and self-sufficiency of your telemedicine/telehealth program

October 8-9- EHR focused workshop hosted by OHIT and the Community Health Integrated Partnership at the Hyatt Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.



Participants planning to attend should meet the following criteria:



  • HRSA-funded grantees from regions II and III
  • Planning to implement an EHR in 6 -12 months
  • Part of a new or existing network, or considering joining a network



The goals of this vendor neutral workshop support OHIT’s on-going efforts of offer HIT/EHR technical assistance to HRSA grantees and include:



  • Guidance for developing a vision for use of HIT to promote quality and access
  • Key elements of a successful EHR implementation
  • Opportunities for health centers to optimize benefits of the HIT and EHR

Participants will have an opportunity to learn about HIT/EHR implementation from experienced Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN) and health center staffs who have successfully adopted HIT/EHR and are currently using to improve health care service quality.



Session topics will include:



  • HIT/EHR adoption, barriers to adoption/elements for success, & product selection
  • Plan development, project management, governance & communication
  • Resource allocation
  • Workflow analysis, process design & clinical content development
  • Interface management
  • Change management/forms development
  • Clinical decision support, performance measurement & reporting
